1. FRONTENAC STATE PARK
Known for its excellent wildlife watching opportunities, Frontenac State Park provides habitat to several species of birds including American woodcock, wood thrush, red-headed woodpecker, olive-sided flycatcher, and black-billed cuckoo. Getting to this nature reserve from downtown Chippewa Falls takes about one hour and a half via route WI-85.
2. LAKE WISSOTA STATE PARK
Located less than eight miles northeast of downtown Chippewa Falls, Lake Wissota State Park can be reached in about 15 minutes by car via County Highway S. Once you make your way to this sprawling nature reserve, some of the activities you can enjoy include camping, hiking, horseback riding, biking, and picnicking. This place also features a large family campground with over 100 sites for those wanting to stay overnight.
